9th Annual Nanticoke River Shad Festival
The 9th Annual Nanticoke River Shad Festival was held on April 24, 2004 in Vienna, MD, hosted by the Nanticoke Watershed Alliance, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the Town of Vienna, and other partners. This year’s festival, timed to celebrate the spring spawning run of American Shad, once the most important commercial fish species in the Chesapeake Bay, was probably the most successful ever. Beautiful weather and wonderful food, entertainment, and events highlighted the day enjoyed by approximately 2000 people.
