Green Infrastructure Initiative:

Green Infrastructure is a term that describes the vital network of natural areas within a region, and it emphasizes important resource hubs and connections (formerly referred to as greenways).  Working with the Wicomico Environmental Trust and the Nanticoke Watershed Alliance (NWA), we have begun the process of developing a Green Infrastructure initiative for Wicomico County, to be extended to the other counties in the Nanticoke Watershed in the future.  The NWA is awaiting word on funding for the project, which will include developing maps and holding numerous public information sessions, with the objective of including GI in the next county Comprehensive Plan.  This ties in well with other initiatives we support, including the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy’s 2010 Agreement, and the Delmarva Conservation Corridor
